Being a flight attendant allows many opportunities for career advancement. Flight attendants wear many hats in their daily lives. Safety professionals first and foremost, flight attendants can also be other things. The knowledge I have learned from this career has given me the opportunity to pursue other passions without having to leave the field I love so much. I have done more than I ever thought I would, and I’ve taken advantage of what this career allowed me to.

I have known people from all walks of life in the flight attendant profession. From Doctors to Lawyers, RNs to Paramedics, Pastors to Counselors, the field is ideal for so many. I myself have pursued my passion for writing music, studying piano, getting my real estate license, becoming a massage therapist and obtaining my RN degree. The possibilities are endless.

Fields Within The Profession

Within the field of being a flight attendant are several opportunities to take advantage of. I have been an instructor for both new-hire and recurrent training. At Republic I was a check-flight attendant guiding flight attendants out on the line. Currently, I am involved in work for the union and will soon be assisting new-hire flight attendants with their image when training starts. Other possibilities are curriculum writing, training management, policies and procedure development, recruitment, safety development and food and beverage planning.

The current head of inflight at my company started as a line flight attendant and worked his way up the corporate ladder. There are several positions available to flight attendants at headquarters as well. If working for the government is something you desire, the FAA hires flight attendants as cabin safety inspectors. That’s what makes this profession so amazing. You don’t have to give up your passions to pursue your dreams. Career advancement is achievable and limitless.

Never Stop Chasing Your Dreams

No matter what it is or what you ultimately want to achieve, there really is no limit to the possibilities. The schedule for flight attendants allows for career advancement and other opportunities. Flight attendants have very flexible schedules and with online learning, any goal can be achieved. Don’t eliminate yourself from this career because you have other dreams. Pursue all possibilities and find what’s right for you.
