Dress For Success

My First Uniform-TWA

Whether you are doing an online interview, a group interview in person, or a face-to-face interview, it is important to dress for success. In other words, you want to look the part. Look at the colors for the uniform for the particular airline you are interviewing with and make it part of what you wear that day. That will make it easier for the interviewers to visualize you as a flight attendant for their company.

For the female applicants, scarfs are still part of most flight attendant uniforms. Go to their website or find pictures on the internet of how the company displays their flight attendants wearing the scarf and match that. For the male applicants, try to match the tie as close as possible to the uniform as well.

Most uniforms are of solid colors, so try to avoid loud patterns that may make you standout, but might not be for the right reason.

How Can I Standout

A Genuine Smile

From the moment you enter the building where your interview takes place, you are being observed. Be genuine, courteous and friendly. The attributes of a flight attendant are what should be on display from the beginning until the end of the interview. Greet fellow interviewees and show courtesy towards them. Welcome them as if you were welcoming passengers on a flight.

Do not try to hide or sit off by yourself. Be engaging and part of the crowd, but don’t form clicks either. Everyone at that interview should be a potential customer and you should play the role of the flight attendant. Let your skills shine.

Enjoy The Experience

Office Views of a Flight Attendant

Even if you are unsuccessful your first time, don’t give up. Being turned down can be hard to swallow and it hurts. I applied for six years before getting hired. I know the feeling all too well. Continue to dress for success and perseverance will pay off. If anything it just makes you stronger for your next interview. Please be sure and email me any questions you have to professionalflightattendant94@gmail.com. Good luck and let me know how it goes.
